Influencer Marketing Unleashed: A Summer with Pam and Gela

In the summer of 2022, my journey as an intern with the Pam and Gela team commenced, embarking on a mission to construct an influencer marketing program and explore the potential opportunities.

My role was a blend of independent work and collaborative engagement, as I navigated daily team meetings and sought assistance from my colleagues in executing my vision. At the heart of my responsibilities lay the pivotal task of identifying potential influencers. This demanded an extensive research effort and a profound understanding of the collection’s vision and its presentation on social media.

As I joined the team, I found myself amid celebrities and influencers who had already established relationships with Pam and Gela. Managing these existing relationships was both thrilling and daunting, as it involved maintaining the positivity and authenticity that had defined these connections. I vividly recall my interactions with Paris Hilton, a moment tinged with nervousness but ultimately defined by her kindness.

Crafting introduction and follow-up pitches for the influencers became a significant part of my role. This entailed designing email templates and brand presentations to engage our influencers effectively. Serving as the primary point of contact, I created close working relationships with fifteen influencers for the Postcard collection. Additionally, I took on the responsibility of sending out gifts on behalf of the team, ensuring that our important contacts received tokens of appreciation.

One of the most intriguing aspects of this journey was the challenge of presenting our product in a manner that would compel influencers to share it with their audiences. Operating under a tight budget, I harnessed my creative instincts to maximize the impact of our efforts. The solution emerged in the form of a unique collateral material—a physical postcard that encapsulated the essence of the collection. Collaborating with my brother, a graphic designer, we brought this vision to life, creating a stunning representation of the collection. To my delight, this postcard concept transcended its initial purpose and found a place across the brand’s social media and website, contributing to a cohesive and engaging branding strategy.

In the spirit of resourcefulness, I leveraged my painting skills to craft personalized palm tree motifs on our boxes, aligning them seamlessly with the collection’s aesthetic. The results were gratifying, with influencers responding positively to our personalized gifting approach. While not every influencer generated a feed post due to the nature of free gifting, a significant majority engaged with the packages on their stories. Some even generously provided us with user-generated content, a heartening display of their appreciation.

My journey with Pam and Gela was not only an exploration of the potential of influencer marketing but a testament to the power of creativity, collaboration, and resourcefulness in delivering impactful marketing strategies.
